Cause of Tinnitus
Most probably TMJD and neck issues that came with it.
Hi everybody

My boyfriend just texted me and told me that he kind of had an acoustic trauma. He works at a Glass furnace / atelier. He told me that one of the employees was using an air compressor to pump air into a thin hole in a piece of art but he was so close to piece and the air bounced and came right into his right ear. (wow, thats hard to explain in English, hope I could explain. )

He now experiences dizziness, ear fullness and a slight hearing loss( he has been experiencing this for the last 3 days as he works with loud equipments all the time). He also told me that he feels like there is a tiny little ball touching his eardrum. But no ringing whatsoever.

But we are a little worried since we both have been going through the hell due to my unpleasant experience with tinnitus.

What we should do from now?

Well @Melike, that all sounds like ear trauma to me. Doctor, steroids, antioxidants eg. NAC etc. is the usual drill. ASAP!
Hi Melike,
I also think he should see an ENT asap if possible

Thank you ! I didn't know what we should exactly do right after the trauma since I had no idea mine can also be from acoustic trauma until 1 month ago :/

Maybe there is a treatment to follow right now to ensure a good recovery. So yeah I think it's better to see a specialist quickly :)

Hi everyone. I just wanted to inform anyone who might be reading this and wondering what happened after.

My bf didn't visit the doctor despite my efforts(and because of some insurance issues). And he started to get intermittent tinnitus in the damaged ear after the accident. Two months later, after a "not so loud" party he went, T stayed for full force, now it is constant for him too. We are a little T family now with various masking audios to welcome our new guests in our home! Yay!

But he had a musical(rock singer) background and he also has problems with his teeth, especially wisdom teeth and jaw and he had more than 5 dental procedures last year before the T. So we really don't know which one of these factors contributed how much to his T onset.

Perhaps it's the cocktail of possible causes that created the "perfect storm" to trigger T, but "rock singer" seems to indicate repeated exposure to loud sounds, so I'd probably put that one up high in the list of usual suspects.
