Intermittent Tinnitus in Left Ear

For the past week I have been feeling a strange pressure in my left ear and a feeling that it is slightly clogged which is making me feel faint and light headed. I've also been experiencing postnasal drip in the back of my throat and had a sore throat last week that made me cough but the sore throat and cough only lasted a day. Anyway, today I have been experiencing intermittent tinnitus. The tinnitus lasts for about 10 seconds then disappears only to reappear about an hour later for another 10 second then again and again and so on. It is starting to worry me. The tinnitus is a high pitched whine. Please advise.
