Hi everyone.

I've been reading many messages on this website for a month now, and it really helped me, so I feel the need to present myself. (I need to apologize for my bad english, hope you'll understand everything)

I'm a 23 years old French engineer, in my life I love sports, Electronic Dance Music, computer sciences, gaming, puppies... but two years ago, something changed.

I woke up in the middle of the night with a ringing ear, at first, I thought it was temporary so I tried many things to calm myself, but it never disappears.
From this day, I get some difficulties to sleep, I can't remember the last time I slept more than 8h straight, however, life was going on and I started to protect my ears from loud events !

It's been a month now, my condition got worse, in the middle of the night, once more.
My tinnitus is louder but I can still live with it, I hear it in quiet situations but I really don't want it to get louder and louder...
I also feel some pain in my left ear, some noises are painful for me, it's look like H but I still don't know, some loudy noises are not bothering me it's weird... sometimes, even in the silence, it's really painful I don't know why ! I'm not overprotecting my ear but sometimes it's annoying.

I saw an audiologist, my audiogram is normal but he said I have a TMD, I have to meet another specialist in October. I'm concerned because I sleep less and less, I constantly have headache, maybe I have something like anhedonia, things that used to make me happy are not "working" anymore, I'm not always sad but I don't know when was the last time I was really happy for something (even France winning the world cup didn't work).

There are so many interesting stories and people here, I wanna thank you for everything I've already read, I'm not feeling alone with you guys ! :thankyousign:

Did you do audiogram above 8khz? DPOAE?

Before the increase in your T a month ago, have you been protecting your ears from loud noises (e.g., lawn mowers, blenders)?

It's well documented that basic audiograms are super inaccurate and ENT's don't have any legal requirements to keep up to date with hearing loss/tinnitus research. If you are usually around loud noise it is safe to say hearing loss is a culprit.

Because you mentioned you have ear pain which is most likely painful hyperacusis that certainly means you have some degree of hearing loss.

TMD and hearing loss together can lead to tinnitus.

Avoid loud noise, headphones and stress.

I don't want to get severe H by protecting my ears...
I began with severe H, protected my ears, and my eventually my H was gone. If you ensure that you are still exposed to some minor noises (you could watch TV at medium volume), you ought to be ok.
