Ive read your story about making your brain ignore your really loud tinnitus. My question is: If you got a new sound, or an increase in volume, would you then be back on square one? Or have you made your brain ignore all possible tinnitus sounds and volumes? If that is not the case, wouldnt you say that habituation or TRT treatment is hopeless for people with a very unstable tinnitus who never know what they will hear next and get new sounds every day?

TRT addresses one's reaction to tinnitus independent of the pitch, loudness, timbre, pattern, or stability of the tinnitus itself. It is just as effective for individuals with "very unstable tinnitus" as it is for individuals with constant tinnitus.

Perhaps consider TRT more as a protocol for facilitating the habituation of tinnitus as a global entity rather than as a protocol for facilitating habituation to any particular tinnitus sound.

      Hope this helps.
