      2007
      Cause of Tinnitus:
      bang to the head
Hi all.. So I've had tinnitus in my right ear since 2007 I believe from fainting and banging my head on a curb... And at first it used to bother me but gradually my brain got used to it.. But over the last month for some reason my tinnitus volume has shot up and I've not been able to sleep and I've had to go sick from work..

Saw the doc on Monday 13th March after finally getting through to her how bad I am feeling she prescribed only 9 sleeping pills and 2 weeks off work and maybe having to go onto anti depressants... Which I don't really want to do...

Is this a temporary spike or am I doomed to this noise forever?? Sharon

      Hi Sharon ,
Tinnitus can spike for lots of reasons and it usually settles down again.
Sleeping tablets are ok short term but better off long term on a low AD medication for sleep as less adictive..
      Lots of love glynis

Sounds like a spike. Usually give it a couple days and see if it fades back to normal baseline.
