Cause of Tinnitus
loud music
Sorry I know this question is asked pretty often but I'd like to hear what you say about my tinnitus.

I can hear my heartbeat, or more likely feel it in my ears more often than before. I don't hear it all the time (thank god) but if I rush the stairs, plug my ears or sleep my ear faced on the pillow I can definitely sense it. Sometimes my tinnitus is rhythmic, but I think it's slower than my heartbeat. Is this normal or should I worry about this? is it even possible to get PT from loud music? Ahh tinnitus annoys me so much and i think it might have gotten a bit louder or then I don't actually remember what it was like in the beginning. I'm only 17 and I feel like i have ruined my life :(

Hi, @arctic loon,

To answer your questions, no, I don't think it is true pulsatile tinnitus. I've heard of other people who have had rhythmic beats along with their tinnitus, but unless it is constant and in sync with your heartbeat, I'd say the answer is "No".

You wouldn't be able to get pulsatile tinnitus from loud noise exposure, because PT is vascular in nature. Tinnitus is very unpredictable, and the sounds can change, or you can add more sounds sometimes. As far as I can tell from what you've described, you have regular tinnitus.

Hope this helps!

Best wishes,
Karen
