.....er....because I'm pretty cute...etc....I decided to contact Mensa....with a view to joining this elite group, who are in the top 2% of the public, with regard to intelligence and cognitive skills.
I was put in touch with a local coordinator, and was designated a time and place for initial testing.
With forms and test papers duly completed, my application was sent up to head office.
They were so efficient....nothing less than I expected of course....I didn't have to wait long....though I will admit that the waiting time was somewhat nerve-wracking.
I mean.....could you imagine going back to your friends to tell them that you'd failed.

Almost by return post, my reply came through the letterbox. The waiting was over.

"We devoted some considerable time to your application, and would like to encourage you to contact 'Densa,'

(Rotten sods......)

Funny Jazzer. We have both been so sick in bed with the flu for two days. First time up and you made me laugh.
Hope to be back normal in a few days....

I never got tested. I suspect that my IQ is around 100. For a given level of accomplishments, the Lower one's IQ, the more one has to be proud of.

Well you're a professor so it's probably higher. The average University Professor has an IQ of 150.

I was tested 3 years ago when I was in high school. I got 140 exactly.

With what we all have to tolerate, I think it is crucial to actively exercise our sense of humour.
"T" may have taken my lovely silence, but it won't be taking my ability:

- to enjoy life,
- to socialise,
- to meditate,
- to sleep,
- to live and to love, etc.....

any time soon !!

I know that I invested more time and effort into my education than the other graduate students at my alma mater (then again, I outperformed all of them as far as grades were concerned, but having said that, now most of them are outperforming me when it comes to research).

I used to have a lot of emotional intelligence as far as self control is concerned, and that can make up for big deficits in actual intelligence (if any).

What is your field? Apparently the average IQ varies widely for professors depending on field. Theoretcal Physics professors average 158, and Agriculture professors average 121.

I have a brain the size of a walnut. Does anyone have a problem with that? That and high volume noise is not a good combination.

hope you are better soon.
As if "T" were not enough eh?
very best wishes

Ugg Dave. Turns out we suffered food poisoning from a Subway sandwich and we are still recovering slowly. I hope no one ever ever finds out how yucky this is.

I think I lost all my densa points. :(

But recovery will happen soon. We sure can take feeling healthy for granted sometimes.

You poor things Star.
Yes I had that once.
It wasn't so much
"The bottom fell out of my world,"
as
"The world fell out of my bottom!"

I remember feeling desperately ill and it takes take some time to get your digestion back to normal.
Best wishes. xx
