Hello guys,

Have had some back and forth with ENT about my ears as I had some itching, fullness, and blocking. I was at the ENT today again, with their specialist and was told that there is a membrane/wax thing on the side of my ear that need to be removed. He was really great. He wanted to suck it out and I was really nervous and he told me that he would use a tool instead. He tried to poke it and I felt a sharp pain (not eardrum!) and he said that he would prescribe me some eardrops that would soothe the itching and also help remove the wax. It wasn't anything dangerous or that was blocking my eardrum, only a bit on the side and that would come out by itself.

As it is blocking close to my eardrum I wish to have it removed, and as the ENT seemed to not worry about it being pressured or anything at all (he said it looked fine) and simply let it come out by itself.

In hindsight, I don't know if I should have allowed the ENT to suck it out, it would have removed the worst now or if I did right by having ear drops instead?

I might have gotten the ear drops anyway as it seems to be antibacterial and such so protecting you from infections and that. But suction would have caused major anxiety and spike, but having ear drops could too. I am glad I didn't need to suck it but I also want my fullness and wax thing gone :(

What did he say about the false eardrum?

What did he say about the false eardrum?

He said that it was a wax/membrane thing and it was only covering the side of the ear canal so it must have been losened up during the weekend when I stopped using olive oil. So it looked fine from his end in terms of the false eardrum

I wonder why he couldnt scrape it out with that tool.
That long metal toothpick thing
It is fairly close to the eardrum and he tried to scrape it but it hurt a bit so he stopped. Not sure why but I guess he thought the body could remove it by itself as it doesn't cover the eardrum completly but is close to it
