      Tinnitus Since:
      2006
      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Bell's palsy
All, I am scheduled to have the stapedius and tensor tympani muscles cut within the next week.

Does anyone have feedback on the recovery related to the surgery? How much pain? How soon can I get back to work and driving? Exercise?

Also, any downsides like increased ringing or loss of hearing?

      Thank you.

      Don

Sorry to hear your tinnitus is so severe. I had Middle Ear Myoclonus in both ears since 2007 and it would drive me crazy. Episodes would last 14 to 16 hours. It would be off and on but in 2017 it got so bad I could barely stand it. I went to many doctors but got no relief. They prescribed anti-psychotic medications and a host of other meds.

Finally my doctor agreed to do the surgery where they cut the tendons in your ear. There are two tendons which are very short so you need to find the right doctor.

This procedure was done in September 2020 and I have not had thumping in my ears since. I recommend this wholeheartedly.

Please don't give up. There is hope and you can get better.
