My Aussie Tinnitus Family...

I'm a little late to the party with this thread, but just want to check in to see how everyone is after the recent siege in Sydney.

I know while I didn't know anyone involved, Sydney is only about 3 hours from home and I have several friends who live in the city. It really struck so close to home

Amelia, what exactly are you talking about ? I don't watch the national news to often, so I haven't heard of whatever siege your eluding to. If it is too dreadful and you'd rather not go there that's fine.

Amelia, when I was a slightly younger person, this type of news story would have been hard to believe, but in today's political climate it has unfortunately become common place. What a sad event and what a sad commentary on our society which spans all oceans. Thank you for yor response. Mick

 

It's very scary. Obviously when these type of things happen in the US etc it's very sad, but this was very close to home for me and a lot of other Australians.

I'm very scared about the type of world my children will have to live in

 

Australia is adding to its military the enlistment of US servicemen, mostly in positions requiring education and very well trained, technical positions. We are close allies and now that Afghanistan and Iraq are winding down, American servicemen are willing to be adopted by the Australian military to aid in providing additional defense. In fact, Australia pays at least a third more in wages and American soldiers like it there. Things are looking up, as more help is on the way. Our men take their jobs seriously and serve to protect.

 

I love Australia's immigration policy! You're lucky that you don't have half a billion potential immigrants that can just move there!
