      Tinnitus Since:
      04/15/2012 or earlier?
      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Most likely hearing loss
The job of your ENT is to first rule out any possible medical reasons for your tinnitus, whether that be a brain tumor. vitamin deficiency or something else (which usually requires an MRI, blood work etc) and to test your hearing.

If they can rule out any serious medical cause for your T even if they do not know the exact cause (which is more than likely), then the 2nd job of your ENT is to refer you to another specialist who can address your issues with anxiety and prescribe you Xanax or whatever you might need (under proper medical supervision) to get you through this difficult time.

You said your audiogram is normal. Did you also do a high frequency test? That usually has to be in addition to a standard audiogram which does not measure high frequency loss.
