There is so much mis-spending and corruption in the government. And they're spending my money, your money, the money of every taxpayer. It's legit theft. I hate it. We need to revert to Athenian democracy (yeah but I'd be silly to think that would work better, I know).

They get ear plugs. But sometimes they may not be handy when the Taliban attacks their fort and a machine gunner has to sit there for 2 hours blasting out his eardrums, and that definitely happens. Also they get sent on patrols and random bombs sometimes go off right next to their heads.

 

When I had gotten T I asked my speech teacher how he deals with it since he served in Afghanistan. He was a machine gunner, got T and said he’s damn near dead in the left ear. Which he said that was weird since the gun was closer to his right ear.

 

How does he deal? Did he provide any insight? I've been thinking I'm just a whiny b*tch that can't deal with something that most people just shrug off and get on. Habituation seems so far off, as does a cure.

he said it was just a matter of keeping himself distracted, doing whatever he could, to not focus on it. he also said he had a sound machine for sleeping which he said that helped him, Never asked how bad his T was though, or maybe he has the will power to get through it
