      Hi!
I have Tinnitus for about 7 years. I got it after a meeting in the pub where there was some concert that I wasn't even interested in. I felt it was too loud but nobody of my friends had such a feeling so I didn't complained. Next day I noticed tinnitus and it never left me ever since. I've also got some sound oversensitiveness. I went to the hospital and to the special clinic in a week, got some medicines, then some ear rehabilitation but it didn't work at all. At the beggining it was not so loud, i've heard it only at night but I've always been a sensitive person so I hate it. But I get used to it to some extent. Then I got a job as a primary school teacher. A noisy work. Seriously noisy. So one day it get worsed because I was ill and still at work for long hours (you know, how bosses like when you get the sick leave...). I went to the specialist (I tried to find the best) and she told me that it is impossible that the school noice could do any harm to me and my ears. -Just get the sick leave when you're ill. You don't have to change your job because of tinnitus.- she said. I wasn't so conviced but... it was a specialist, right? So I tried to keep calm and work. One day we went on a one-day trip with kids. I was healthy and well-rested. It wasn't so terribly noisy. And... it got worse. So I went to another specialist and asked the same question. She was looking at me like a crazy that school-noise made it worse. Where it ends up you ask? After next deterioration I hate these f* indiots. I should never listen to them. I should never listen to my family who thought it can't be a serious illness. I've got two arms and two legs so what's the matter? They never said it but I felt it anyway. I should listen to myself. Now I hear this voice in my ears all the time- whet the radio and TV are on, when I'm in the city, when I'm in the bus. I have serious problems with resting , I'm always tired. Nobody can help me. I won't survive next deterioration.

So my advice is that you listen to your feelings before you listen to anybody else. If you feel it's too loud, it is, so get out of there!
BTW thank you for the acces to tinnitus MP3. It's "survival pack". ;)

      Welcome to Tinnitus Talk.
Try off load stress and try some relaxation to help you unwind.
If your not sleeping try over the counter aids or melatonin or may be a low AD to help sleep and anxiety.

I work in a school also and know how loud the children can be but when im on the yard I carnt hear my tinnitus but concentration can be a problem if your teaching staff....
The calmer you are and having sound on around you when you can will help.
Having your hearing checked and seeing audiology would be the next step if sleeping and relaxation does not help....lots of love glynis

Occupatipnal health might be able support you in your work place.

      Thanks for your support.
I've already seen the audiologist, I have the perfect hearing. I use the TRT method but it doesn't work. But I've listened to water sounds for 2 weeks now at home non stop, especially when I'm trying to fall asleep and it really helps. Occupational health, you mean the doctor? How can he help?

Well... I don't think that any occupational health will help me. There is the law that allows the teacher to take the a year off but it only works when you're in the state school. But I work at public (private) school so I have no option. The headmaster was so kind to reduce my duties during breaks between lessons but other teachers are jealous so... you know. ;)

4 increases already. And the funny thing is that specialists tend to say: "So you feel like it got worse..." (meaning it's the matter of my feelings or state of mind). I've started do despise them, I am not stupid and I do not "feel like". It accualy got worse a few times and never get to previous stage.
