Cause of Tinnitus
Concerts
Hi!

It's crazy to find myself here again. I was doing this search I re-found this board and I can't believe it. I've had tinnitus and have been struggling with my sensitive ears since 2003. I went to a few concerts while I was a teen and soon found that the ringing in my ears persisted.

From 2003-2011 I was very careful about my ears but I've since slipped. I stopped wearing plugs when I know I should have and listened to music too loud on occasion. I guess now the fear is that I might have lost a bit of my hearing. It scares me because I'm only 33.

Any tips to protect my ears in the future? Any good dB monitors? I bought one in the past but was never sure if it was giving an accurate reading. When and where do you wear earplugs? I used to sear them mainly at restaurants and the movies... also at the gym...

Thanks for your help!

I try to stay away from vacuum cleaners, blenders and lawn mowers. I like the hearing protection I get with my 3M Peltor ear muffs. It is good to wear them during thunderstorms. In fact, I plan to bring them with me everywhere I go, in case someone pulls a fire alarm. It is easy and fast to slip those muffs on.
