      loud music (I think)
Hi, I have never been to a doc or any therapist for my T.
I think the cause of it is loud music, very very loud music in the 90's.
i have 2 different sounds in my ears all the time.
i never sleep more than 5 or 6 hours, i think it's the T that wakes me up.
my T is getting worse, never better.
I used to swim a good bit but had stopped. Lately I've started swimming again as I'd like to do a triathlon (my 1st) and I think the water is making my T worse.
Lately I've also been going to the gym more often and run and cycle.
Could the extra exercise be causing my T to get worse.
Can medicine or alternative treatments really help?
      I don't have ear wax.
I used to use cotton buds to clean my ears. I didn't know it was bad for them, i know now.
It's good to have found this site and be amongst like minded people.

      Terrym,

      Welcome to Tinnitus Talk.
For some people exercise can cause tinnitus to spike with the increase in blood pressure but should settle back down again soon.
Taking vitamins seems to help some people and melatonin can help natural sleep .
You have done well coping with tinnitus for so long and might be worth seeing ENT and audiology for a check up and routine MRI....lots of love glynis

      Terry,
I feel I'm in the same boat. I've had T for over 5 years now and while I thought it would be better within a year, it's remained bad and in certain ways it's gotten worse. Despite this, I decided that I wasn't going let it control my life and have gotten back into the things I enjoy doing. Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, I suggest you consider doing the same.
      Mike
