My T started so gradually that I don't know when it started. The sound I hear is the same as I heard at night as a child sleeping with my head next to the open window in summer. Crickets lots of crickets. For that I am glad became I know that it could be a shrill whistle or other annoying sounds. I'm here to learn how to cope as it getts louder. I have not had a hearing test yet. I am 63 .

Welcome to the forum. There are many ways to help coping with the T ringing. Masking is one of the ways and there are many cricket sounds. Here are some suggestions:

      1) Mask at bed time so you can sleep better. Find whatever sounds/music that are soothing to you. You can use a sound machine or sound pillow for this, or a computer with speakers.

      2) If you need masking on the go, try load an ipad with nature sounds or music using itune, or use smart phone.

      3) If you have computer and speakers, you can try these excellent masking sounds:
      TT's audio player:
or download free sound generator ‘aire freshener’:
or make your own rain sound:
or search youtube with words like 'tinnitus masking sounds', 'white noise', 'rain sound' etc.
