I've always had small, short stints of T, lasting 10 seconds at most, I thought this was something everyone experienced. About a month ago I went free diving and while I was at the bottom (7m) my ear began to ring.... It hasn't stopped. I went to my GP after 3 days. He, a sufferer of T, told me to take some antibiotics and wait 3 months. I have been going through the gauntlet of emotions: anger, denial, frustration, depression ect. I joined TT a few days ago which has provided me with a lot more information than my GP did. Thanks! I am totally lost and trying to find out what I should be doing. I'm on a total roller coaster.

Should I be following my doctors advice, waiting 3 months, or should I be seeking a second opinion from a specialist?

I'd really appreciate some advice if anyone thinks they can shed some light on my situation.

      Thanks Heaps!

very most likely is perylimph fistula. antibiotics kill virus, but cannot help "close the hole"

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

There are experimental treatment options, such as AM-101,thatbyou can only do in the first three months.... Line it up, if you are close to a trial center, for the tail end of your 3 months. Just my opinion.

Thanks OddV I'll most definitely prepare for the worst and hope for the best. It's a great strategy in life. & Max_Fcktr...I live in Australia and haven't been able to find such a trial center. I'll be seeking out some answers and guidance from my GP talking specifically about AM-101. Cheers!

I think a lot if not most people (could be wrong) get those brief ear ringing episodes for 5 or so seconds at seemingly random times, in know I did, but just totally ignored them. If fact I thought they were quite amusing at the time. Not sure if they have any impact on what we are experiencing now though. I had to give up swimming after I got my t as I now find the water slapping against either ear makes them ring during the swim, this didn't happen or else I didn't notice it before. If I were you id be quite hopeful of your t resolving itself, you can maybe console yourself slightly that its only one ear, it could be twice as bad!
