I just recently had hearing loss, with high frequency loss, due to an accident on the gun range.
I have tinnitus 24/7 and as can be expected, it's driving me nuts. I have a few questions, that I'm sure someone here can help me with. Went to the ENT, said I had acoustic ear trauma. Didn't really give me any hope for recovery. Basically said my hearing that was lost would never come back and the T would never go away.
I'm just wondering, does it get better? Will the fullness I feel in my ear ever go away?
Should I be avoiding sounds, like the TV and music. The TV and music sounds like it's played through a broken speaker, if that makes sense. Plus they also seem to muffle my ear more. Is that temporary?
Should I be avoiding listening to them, or does that make it worse? If I avoid all sounds, won't my ears stop adjusting to them. If you don't use it, you lose it kind of thing?
I have so many questions and the medical world has no answers. Hard to understand how medical specialists can know so little about their field.
Also had a hearing test, confirmed hearing loss across the board, especially high frequencies. Can anybody help me understand what I can or should be doing to help things get as good as they can.
thanks, Bruce
