I have been told by others that my hyperacusis is getting better because I am more willing to watch TV at a higher volume. Maybe. Or maybe I am more desperate to cover my louder tinnitus.

I don't feel like it is better. I have been getting light headed around certain noises and my head just feels so weird. Sometimes even white noise makes my tinnitus feel worse.

Is all of this normal for hyperacusis?

Light headed you mean it is like a slight vertigo?

That's pressure and it is typical of hyperacusis, the most common sensation. It's like having a balloon inside your head. What you initially described is a different thing, it's when you feel like getting close to vertigo, and that's an altogether different thing.
