Non-Ototoxic Nose Sprays? Is Polydexa (Neomycin + Polymyxin B + Dexamethasone) Safe?

      Cause of Tinnitus:
Possibly from problems with blood flow

I had a mild cold recently and because of inflammation in my nose sinus infection started with green secretions.
I had it happen a lot, because I have a deviated septum.

I've been using anti-inflammatory and decogestant spray for last 4 days.
Cough appeared, because stuff from sinuses goes down. In the morning I cough up some of the secretions from sinuses.

The thing is that before I used a mix of neomycin and polymyxin b sulfates in nose spray (Polydexa).
It worked well, but I've read that it's ototoxic if applied to middle ear.

Do you know safe antibiotic nose sprays?
Is it safe to use ototoxic nose sprays if I don't do a valsalva manuever after using it? I've used it before for 4-5 times without any problems.

      Thank you.

Do you know if you have a bacterial or viral infection? The spray would be useless with a viral infection, any perceived benefit would be from the dexamethosone which is a very strong corticosteroid. You can get sprays that are purely corticosteroids I think.

If this is just a mild cold, I'd just wait it out. If it's something more serious then ignore my advice.

Neomycin is notorious for being ototoxic and even though you aren't applying it directly into the middle ear, it will still be absorbed in the same area (sinus, eushtachian tubes) and then even be absorbed systematically.

Also using powerful antibiotics for common colds aren't ideal because it eventually leads to bacteria developing resistance to these antibiotics.

I have MARCoNS (fungal and bacterial).

I treat it with the following recipe using a netipot (once a day).

      . Salt 1/2 tsp
. Aluminium free sod bic 1/4 tsp
      . Xylitol 1 tsp
      . Liquid herbs - antimicrobial
. Citric seed extract (4 drops) Travellers Friend brand
. Cooled pre boiled filtered water

(You could try this with all of the above minus the herbs of course)
