Well it's been a month and some Days.... Yesterday and today I woke up not really listening to it but when I do hear it I just roll my eyes....like I'm annoyed but not caring about it. Is that mean I'm habitating towards it?

For right now I do have mild, of course I'm scared crapless that I will make it worse but I'm protecting my ears in situations. I'm just nervous about my New York trip. Other than that I'm just annoyed with the T

      Hey,

That probably is a good sign. I woke up this morning and it was quite quiet. Then just a few minutes ago I kinda got frustrated at some pain I'm having in my thumb, like thinking to myself 'oh come on give me a break'!, and instantly the Tinnitus got louder.

      Bizzare I know!

So maybe the more you can just try to ignore it, actually the quieter it will get.

@Pb1 that's what I'm thinking. Lately I have maybe been thinking about it 40% of the day. Yesterday at work I thought about it maybe 10%.
I'm just annoyed rather than beating myself down about it! I have to focus on other things like saving up for a house and my focus on it has become less and less. I kinda just accepted it. I just have to watch my surroundings

It could well go away completely. I got it back in January from using just standard run of the mill painkillers at the suggested intervals for about 4 days. It took about a month or so but it went to the point were it was so quiet I had to try to listen for it.

Then just over a week a go I was persuaded to try 1 paracetamol tablet (I got a bit of pain going on for some reason too) I thought it had been caused by the ibuprofen or aspirin, and boom within 10 minutes it had risen back up to a crazy whistling that I could hear over traffic. Now it's still there but I'm just hoping it goes away again! I'm trying very hard to ignore it, as much as you can possibly ignore it.

Jamie, I think it's a good sign. If you start to more and more treat it with the same kind of low-grade emotionality you would give to a sore throat, a mild headache, or any of the other stupid, inconveniencing but essentially harmless and temporary things we humans go through, you will give it the message that YOU are the important one here, not "it." Then YOU take the front burner in your life, and not it. And hopefully the calming of your emotional response will have a general calming on your whole body and mind and help to lessen the tinnitus and its impact. And definitely keep protecting the ears. That part should never be forgotten about. I actually keep the ear plugs on my keychain, which is always with me. That way I can have them ready for any surprise situations that occur. Once I was walking through a parking lot and a loud car alarm went off right next to me and I didn't have the plugs and I suffered for it. Now I'm always ready. Not a big deal - just a small life adjustment. Good luck and have fun on your trip!

Oh, yesterday, I actually finally attached the string that came with the plugs. So now they can dangle around my neck and be put in/out much more easily and QUICKLY. I don't wear them this way all the time (not exactly high fashion :) though I'm a who-cares person anyway!). But when I know there will be on and off noise (like your trip to the city), then I just hang them around my neck, tuck them into my shirt, and then if I hear something (like an approaching siren, etc.) I just pop them in in one-second flat.

@Path Maker I told myself that if I still have this annoying thing I'm going to purchase professional earplugs!

You should always protect your ears whether you have T or not. Annoyed is a good reaction. I like angry too, but not too angry or that will make it worst to. Don't be scared about protecting your ears, fear is bad too. If you think about it there really arent that many things out there that can hurt you, but you should just always be careful.

Its great that you have mild T. If you keep going with this you will keep getting better. Try not to have any setbacks. At one month you are in the early stages and have a good chance it having it be very mild or maybe even gone. You need to keep fighting and try not to dwell on it at all.

Yes, you are habituating. I think once you have reached total habituation is when it is so mild, that you no longer pay any attention to it and you only find it if you are looking. Don't go looking and you don't find it and you forget this whole mess and keep going with your life again.

Going forward though you must always stay calm. I learned anxiety and stress don't help anything for the better. Solving problems as they come up and just dealing with them. In fact anxiety and stress will only flair up your T, so just stay away and keep getting better.

@RB2014 thank you, I have been really good lately. I think a lot had to do with stress because I'm finally at a job that I used to do and I get to talk talk talk to people; I feel like I'm
Myself most of the time. Every now and then I get a little down but what a progress from the first week! I do get a little worried about noise, but also I got my hair done today at the salon and it was a little noisy but it didn't bother me. I also work where music is playing, I hate to turn the volume down a little bit but it plays loud so my ears have been doing good so far.
I know 90.6 % that it was caused my music but my ENT doc said stress since I grind my teeth so
Much. That's why I left my stressful job and it went to down so much! How is your T?

T has been ok lately. Its up and down. Mine is from hearing loss so it won't go away, but I can have some pretty good days. In order to better cope, I try not to show any emotion to anything that happens. I have had a couple of happy past few days and not sure if its connected, but it has been almost unnoticeable for me. Hoping to keep it that way. Thanks for asking.

Well I was just about to come on here and say it's been really quiet the last 2 days, and I think that's because I stopped drinking coffee, but then for no reason a couple of hours ago it went back up again. What a weird thing it is.

Even if it didn't help with a cure I would love to know just what the heck causes this thing!

@Pb1 yeah it's so unpredictable.... One minute mine is fine then I get a spike!! Ahh but I'm okay. I met a girl my age who says she's had it for years, from going to concerts. I wasn't sad that she still had it, I was happy bc she seemed so calm about it! She has mild case and so do I! She said to me it gets better!
