ok so out with hubby and friends and we went to this mystery room thing that you had to solve clues to get out. It was like a themed apartment with a 60s style spy thing.

Long story short I wore my hearing aides with masking to keep me from thinking about T.

There was this old rotary phone and I picked it up and dialed and then hung up the phone(like not HANG UP but press the thing while I still had the phone to my ear... and the dial tone just DRILLED into my ear for like a second. It was loud but louder because of my hearing aid. It hurt my ear! It's still a little sore an hour later.

I don't notice a spike but I haven't been able to really check well.

Am I messed up??? FYI my T did not come from hearing damage. Maybe it startled me more because of the mild H and I kind of jump when I hear high pitch noises??

Please tell me I will be ok???

I think you will be okay but call up your hearing specialist and tell him you want the amplification to NOT go over a certain dB. Not just muting after a couple of seconds of loud noise - you want the sound to never be amplified that loud in the first place.

I don't think a second of any loud noise can damage your ears :)

Hey girl, I was at whole foods yesterday and the innercom did a loud screeching noise for about 5 seconds. I had food in my hand and couldn't cover my ears. But Nothing happened to me! You will be fine :D
