Curious whether anyone else's tinnitus causes them pain due to its fantastically high pitch.

I occasionally discover myself wincing due to its intrusive whine. Were it an actual, objective sound emanating from without, I'm convinced it would cause damage. By my approximation, the whistling hiss is around 15k. If it were just a sound, I'm certain I could cope much better. As it is, I cannot mask it and feel it's presence even in loud bars. This sensation of pain is the worst part of my condition.

@VictorDedalus For many with tinnitus, pain from other conditions is felt more. You have been thru a lot so it would be hard to comment on your suffering. Maybe beyond your surgery, your neck is causing a problem.

My T has a very high pitch and my whole head and neck feels pain. With me it was whiplash.

I'm only able to post within a period of minutes to a few hours during a 24 hour day. It's just too unbearable most of the time. Many others with severe high pitch tinnitus come and go here. I would see your neuro again for exam, but you probably have done that.

I don't mask. I use a rain CD placed a little distance from me.

I ready understand, sorry.
