      Tinnitus Since:

      Cause of Tinnitus:
Unknown, but concerned about Cipro use.
Does anyone have a pink noise protocol they would suggest? How have you used it to get best results?

I ask about pink noise because it seems to be the most popular and recommended, but if anyone else has a different sound therapy they have used with success I would love to hear about it. I was planning to just use a pink noise selection I found on YouTube designed for tinnitus.

Hi mate and welcome to the forum.

I would suggest you to have a look to an app called Resound Tinnitus Relief. You can install it in your phone for free and you have plenty of sounds to combine, included pink, white and brown noise. It also has a part in which they explain some tips to make your tinnitus more manageable. Hope you find relief there. Hugs.

      HI @ryanlrosscpa

Using Pink noise, white noise or any other sound therapy to treat tinnitus and hyperacusis if it is present, is more complex than some people think. If you are intending to listen to Pink noise through headphones, then I advise you this is a bad idea, as you risk making your tinnitus worse even if medical professionals tell you it's safe, it is not. They are medics not tinnitus experts or specialists in the condition. It is important that you know what caused your tinnitus in order to know the best way to treat it.

If you haven't had tests done on your auditory system at ENT yet, then I suggest that you make an appointment to have this done. This way your ENT doctor can assess whether there is an underlying medical problem causing your tinnitus or it is noise induced. Noise induced tinnitus is the most common cause. Typically, it is using headphones at too high a volume or attending places, such as clubs or concerts where loud music is played. If you have frequently engaged in the latter, then your tinnitus is likely to be noise induced.

One can use Pink noise for sound enrichment via a standalone portable device that has speakers. However, to treat tinnitus and hyperacusis, using Pink or White noise, dedicated white noise generators are the best devices for this purpose. My white noise generators can produce white or pink noise which I can select via a switch. To honest there's not much difference between the two. Pink noise sounds slightly softer.

See an ENT doctor and get some tests done, then if necessary a referral to a Hearing Therapist or Audiologist that specialises in tinnitus and hyperacusis, treatment and management.
