After extensive scanning, audiovestibular tests, neuro-ophthalmology evaluations, sleep apnea testing, and appointments with a dentist and physiotherapist, the consultant today gave me a working diagnosis: Idiopathic Intracranial Hypotension Without Papilledema (IIHWOP).
I feel relieved to at least have a provisional diagnosis. I will not be having a lumbar puncture, as the scans suggest it is not necessary at this point. The results from the audiovestibular testing also support the IIHWOP diagnosis.
I am starting a medication called Diamox. The consultant acknowledged that IIHWOP may not be the cause of my tinnitus, but this feels like a good step forward.
