Hi guys! :)

Haven't been around for a while but last few days I'm kinda worried..
I have constant high pitched sound in both ears and murmur in left ear for over a year.

What worries me is pulsing, heartbeat in both ears before sleep when I'm lying on sides. It awakens me like 100 times and makes me nervous so heart starts to pound faster and then beat gets louder in ears as well. I only hear that when I'm lying on sides at night, during day theres no beat in ears.

Maybe I'm saying silly things but during night I kinda get scared

My question is, is hearing your heartbeat in ears something normal?

I think its a condition of Pulsitile Tinnitus. Im not sure but you may have a sort of tinnitus that can be cured.
Now Im not sure. But your t could be related to a kink in veins, artery or bone problems. You have to learn about your condition. Calm down. How long have you had this?

Go to your doctor and get a referral to an ENT, as they can diagnose you and maybe discuss treatment options. But it does sound like pulsatile tinnitus and could be curable. The best person to ask would be Karen, look her up on the notable members tab. Go to members on the top page and go to notable. She has pulsatile tinnitus so would be in the best position to help you. Good luck buddy.

Hi Marijana

I know what it feels like, and at the beginning i was very anxious and unsettled too. If course it does´t feel like a normal thing, but don´t be scared. it´s unlikely that is something really serious, but it is annoying.

What happens is the anxiety of not knowing what´s going on and not be able to sleep, feeds the intensity of it, so is important to do things to relax while you seek for a doctor.

As Danny Boy suggested, go a doctor that might be more familiar with PT. (at first, doctors didn´t order MRI´s in my case). What they do first is check and discard anything that´s physically causing it, or could be harmful which is unlikely.

They Key question (Dr. Shapiro ) asked me was if the beat was in perfect sync with your heartbeat (IE: if you go running, the pulse accelerates...) to qualify as pulsatile.

I would recommend that you go to a neuro otarolyst, or neurologyst, or may be through this forum you can find some info on specialists in your area. You might need to go to an ENT anyway to perform an audition test, but it seems that this kind of tinnitus has a vascular origin, unless there´s hearing loss.

I hope you will find good answers and soon recovery from PT.

I'd say I have had this for 1 week now. Last 3 days I calmed down. It doesn't awaken me at night and beating isn't loud as it was first few days.

@Danny Boy I will for sure ask for ENT appointment. funny thing is that when I visited doctor for constant T he only reffered me to an audiologist and he recommended to run blood tests and thyroid hormones. Results are fine, they told me to try some ginko supplement and that was it. Thank you!

@Sergio V. Hi, thank you for support, I really needed to hear that. Hope you are doing fine.

Ginkgo biloba doesn't work and that's been proven by studies.

Yes, they told me it probably won't work and not to expect anything but I should give it a try anyway.

It could work if yours is related to lack of blood getting to the ear. However that is really rare, but as you said, you never know.
