If I have Reactive Tinnitus, can any sound, even the "quiet" increase my tinnitus, as if I heard a loud sound?

Is it recommended to avoid any sounds, even silent ones?

Is it different, and will it make tinnitus just temporarily worse?

But it does not create permanent damage (like a loud sound would)?

I never heard of quiet sounds causing T to react and spike. You might want to try to avoid moderately loud sounds like that of a vacuum cleaner. These spikes are usually temporary. However, it is possible that if one keeps getting those spikes, eventually one might get a permanent spike.

Based on my experience, even "silent" sounds can increase the "reactive" tinnitus especially static, broadband sounds that contain lots of frequencies. This is very real and not psychological.

HI @osoba
You have to give your tinnitus and hyperacusis/reactive tinnitus time to heal and one has to be realistic. These are the facts. Tinnitus and hyperacusis often take many months to improve up to two years in some cases. It is a process and can't be rushed. Using sound enrichment during the night and day, as mentioned in my post: hyperacusis, as I see it, and in my article: Tinnitus, A Personal View, in the link below will help you. You have to be patient so try not to get too stressed .
