Really LOUD Tinnitus After Stopping Valium (Diazepam)

Hi.

I had Valium (10mg) per day for 3 days.

I stopped today, but my tinnitus has increased significantly! I mean at least 60% LOUDER than usual. I am actually hearing it over the radio.

Is this an after effect of the diazepam?

It could well be but see your doctor if it does not settle.

Benzos are not otoxic. What are you experiencing is similar to being extremely stressed out. Also it's a muscle relaxant, so if you are tensing back up that could explain it also.
