Remembering My Dad

Today would have been my dads Birthday and the first one without him as died in March this year.
All the family met up tonight at our mum's and had some nice thoughts of him and a birthday cake.
My sister's got me a bit drunk ( it's Wednesday)
Told my family I had not better take a sleeping pill tonight as might not wake up till FRIDAY!!!
Lots of laughs on a day I was dreading.

I wish best for you glynis. I understand you, I lost my father 10 years ago. I wish you be happy every time.

 

I still remember that lovely, sweet photo of your dad, @glynis, when he waa holding your bunny. You were such a good daughter to him, visiting all the time, and I am sure he loved you dearly. He lives on in your heart. My dad's birthday is Sept. 30. I celebrate him every year on that day; he's been gone 16 years.

Hugs and glad you were celebrating YOUR dad on his special day with your loved ones.

Awesome memories. Hold them dear forever. I'm not sure who you take after. If it was your dad than that man was Superman! Big hugs my friend.

 

Reminds me of a saying my grandfather (on my mom's side-also from England originally) would always say to us as kids. It's funny how these little sayings bring back hundreds of excellent memories.

Whenever we saw grampa Phil, if there was a dog around, he would look at the dog and say..........

........ I wish I had a Pat. I would Dog it on the back!...........

Now every time I see a dog, I say that saying to myself and smile, as all the great memories with him immediately come flooding back.

 

My dad loved the water and taught me how to race sailboats, something I did into my mid-30s. When I was a kid, I had my own little boat that my dad bought me and I loved. Once during a race, I got broadsided and the splash rail was torn off.

I was very upset but my dad told me: Pretty boats are the ones that never leave the dock.
He used to say that and I think of it often.

Hehe, your family sounds pretty entertaining. Remember he'll always be with you. Keep this day lighthearted, don't stress. I can imagine the trouble of losing a parent. Please stay strong for yourself and your family. Sorry for your loss
