Ringing for Last 70+- Years

My tinnitus started slowly in my left ear in my teens.
I thought all ears rang.
About 10-15 years later my right ear slowly started to ring.
The ringing is close to consistently a monotone, about 4000 hertz.
It is always about as loud as a conversation level .
Any loud noises cause the level to increase for perhaps a half hour'
In my 40's I had braces to shift my TMJ.
No help. TMJ's do not relocate!!
Moving my jaw does cause an increase in level and perhaps a change in frequency.
I can not move my jaw and stop the ringing!
I still ring today and have assumed the attitude that I can let it bother me or accept it.
I'm 84 now and I simply have lived with it all these years.
What other option is there????
In the 1950's and 60's there was not much understanding of tinnitus.
Maybe if I received treatment today There might be a solution!!

That's my situation.

My personal suggestions,

• Obtain successful medical attention
• Assume the attitude you are lucky it is not debilitating or terminal
• Succeed in coping with it

I remember my father had T he had it for over 40 years caused by loud noise. He would tell us that it sounds like a siren he never tried any remedies to help just lived with it. Although when he got up into his 80s his music and t.v. became very loud

 

i think there is something very liberating about accepting a difficult situation.
