Safe to Have Earbuds In, Low Volume?

Ive been masking using earbuds on my iphone, never turned up past 2-3 notches on it. Do you think this is a safe thing to do?

I think so, I keep mine on a notch or two and haven't noticed a problem.

Though i think investing in some noise canceling over the ear ones are best.
