Severe Worsening of Tinnitus and Ear Pain After Starting Nasal Steroid Spray for Suspected ETD

Hi. I started a nasal steroid spray just over a week ago for suspected ETD. I have had tinnitus and other symptoms for three weeks. The nasal spray seems to be making the tinnitus much worse. It also causes earache and some popping and twitching. The popping and twitching have settled, but the tinnitus and earache have not.

I am really struggling to get through each day. I am exhausted, unable to sleep or eat. Is this a normal reaction? Is it a sign that the spray is working? Any help at all would be appreciated before I lose my mind. Thank you.

It seems unlikely that the nasal spray is making your earache or tinnitus worse. Your tinnitus and earache may be fluctuating independently. Since you are still only a few weeks in, it is very common for tinnitus to change frequently in the beginning. Have you seen a doctor? The earache and popping could point to an infection.
