Tinnitus Since
29/1/2016
Hi, i am a 16 year old male, and my tinnitus began near the end of januaray 2016. It never seemed to stop. My tinnitus seemed to be a sudden onset. One day, my ears just felt muffled and stuffed, and the high pitched ringing started.

Over the past month i've been to my GP around 3 times, and each time i went there he prescribed some sort of medicine. The first medicine was amoxicillin, which didn't help at all. Next he gave me prednisone and another medicine, which i forgot the name. During that week of using prednisone, i felt less anxious and depressed about my tinnitus, but tinnitus still plagued me. During the last visit, i told him that i felt better ( i shouldn't have), so he said to wait it out, and if it still persits i should go and see him again. After 2 weeks i still have tinnitus, and its starting to make me feel anxious and depressed again, and i dont know if i will ever recover from it.

I really need help to overcome this hindrance because i dont want it to affect my school life as i have been doing really well over the past few years. I really dont want tinnitus to ruin my grades because i cant seem to focus in school over these few weeks. Any recommendations would be appreciated. :)

EDIT: I forgot to mention that my GP said that i had an inner ear infection or something as he look inside both of my ears. The ear that i think has tinnitus was my left and he said it was red compared to my other ear, which he said was white.

Welcome to the forum. Don't panic and worry too much. Anxiety and stress can make your T worse. If your T has a medical cause, count yourself lucky as T can probably get better when the infection is healed. T may be a problem right now when it is real new, as the suffering is worst when it is new. However after some time, your perception of T may change and young people are known to get better, as some of these young guys posted about their success stories.

Went to my GP again and he gave me more medicine and a nasal spray (its says on the packaging that it is for hay fever). But today i woke up with a fever and headache, is this something serious cause by my ear infection? I have had an ear infection for a month and a bit.

What medicine?
Did your doctor say you still have an ear infection? Eardrum still red? Fluid behind eardrum?

Have you had any antibiotics other than amoxicillin?

My GP gave me prednisone again and cetirizine and cotrimoxazole. He said that i still have an ear infection because the ear drum is still red. Im not sure about the fluid behind the eardrum but i assume i do because it says online that tinnitus arises from that.

Sine I am not a doctor and can't give medical opinion, your fever and headache should be checked out by a doctor. Saying that, infection can surely cause fever. Hope the meds by your doctor can heal the infection. All the best.

I had some paracetamol, and took a day off school. My fever went down but head somewhat still hurts. Another question i have is that do ear infections last more than a month?
