      Hi
New to this forum, 4.5 months with noise induced tinnitus.

Since I have had tinnitus I no longer get headaches even when I drink wine or beer, before this would give me headaches if I drank too much, now nothing?

I saw an ear specialist here in NYC and he said the this can happen and was aware of it, not surprised...

At the moment I am using wine to calm my tinnitus down so I can go to sleep, as nothing natural works...

I am seeing a doctor next week and will seek meds to assist me with this sleep problem.

      Has anyone else experienced this?

      Best Denis

Hey @DCM, it's been completely the opposite for me. I also have noise-induced tinnitus for about five months now, but the first time I got drunk after the acoustic trauma the tinnitus was so unbearable the next morning that I basically have to limit myself to one or two drinks now. As far as I can tell, having one or two drinks doesn't affect my T at all.

In my case, I found that a B-complex multivitamin taken about an hour before bed, and magnesium glycinate taken a few hours before bed really helped me sleep. They're both "natural" as far as I'm concerned, so I'm not too worried about taking them long-term.

I really hope the doctor can help you out, not sleeping certainly doesn't make dealing with the T throughout the day any easier.

I haven't had a headache since the noise took residence in my head either and I used to get headaches quite often. I did have one drink since the noise came on and the next day when I woke up my head sounded like someone was rattling a glass jar filled with pennies. Yikes! But no headache. At least not the pain. Tinnitus is a headache whether you feel it or just hear it.

I know it is hard to fall asleep with tinnitus blaring away. @DCM, are you able to get a full night's rest yet, even after a glass of wine? Are you able to sleep the whole night through?

When the noise first came on I used melatonin and nature sounds to help me fall asleep but would wake up with screaming cicadas in my head 3-4 hours later. I could fall asleep but not stay asleep. I'd eventually fall back asleep after an hour or so but my head would sound like a squeaky shopping cart wheel all day long. Plus I'd just be too exhausted and groggy to deal with anything especially the noise. Casper's right. Not sleeping doesn't help. I sure hope your doctor can help you find something that works.
