A couple of weeks ago I drove Sylvie and her friend Zaina up to the ExCel Centre in London, to go to a Stitchery exhibition.
I didn’t go in to the exhibition hall myself, but stayed out in one of the coffee shops....doing some facebooking and answering some fan mail....you know how it is.
      (hahaha - only kidding).

My missus turned to Zaina and said, “You watch - when we come out of there for a cup of tea, he’ll be chatting up some woman or other.”

Being a crowded area it was a bit noisy and clattery.
I had my ‘foams’ pushed well in.
As I was the only person at this table, a very nice young lady asked if she could also sit there.
I said “Sure,” and edged one of the plugs out, in case she wanted to speak.

      She noticed.

Do you have Tinnitus by any chance?”

“Yes I do - permanent and loud.”

She said “Oh I’m so sorry.
      Very nasty thing isn’t it.”

I asked her “Do you have it?”

      Oh yes” she said smiling,
it screams at me all day long.”

“Then how do you cope so well?”

I’ve had it a longtime.....most of the time I just ignore it.
It was diagnosed at a hearing test three years ago. My deafness is progressive, and I may have between eight and ten years left before I lose my hearing completely.
I was also diagnosed with a progressive form of arthritis a couple of years before that.

So I learnt yoga and meditation, passed my exams, and now I teach both yoga and meditation. That’s my job.”

I was absolutely astounded by this lovely forty something young lady.
I said “but how will you cope - - eventually?”

      She said
Oh, I will cope because I am strong.
I have a lovely husband, three great kids, and some adorable pussycats.
Don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine.”

With that she said “I must get back in there, craft is one of my passions,
but before I go I want to give you a big hug.”

She came round to my side of the table as I stood up.
      She whispered in my ear,
Just be strong - and you’ll be fine.”

With that, she gave me a lovely big hug, which prompted a few tears. I felt so touched.
I felt a tear roll down the side of my nose.
Now you lot don’t know me right.
It’s a very brave tear that will start out on a journey like that.
With that, she disappeared back into a maze of fabrics, patterns and threads.

I just want to say that she was one of the bravest, most impressive, influential people that I have ever met. I will never forget her!
Boy did I get lucky - that day.

I’ve had experiences like this Jazzer. One story is posted in the success section. We don’t really get to hear from the brave souls out there in the real world, do we?

Ed - she was so wholesome, so positive, so matter of fact about it, and so nice, that I didn’t really hold it together too well.
She noticed, wasn’t embarrassed, and helped me through it.
Her kids have got a lovely mum.
She suffers so much, and yet she wins through every minute of the day.
Where most of us fluctuate, up and down, she seems to have reached a place of safety.
      Just amazing. x

I can believe it. When we tap into the hidden strength that we all possess then anything is possible. Anytime I hear a story like this I think about this video that I’ve shared many times - even with you - but I still love posting it:

Oi Oi Oi - I just said
“Ladies are so lovely” - that’s all.”

But you did remind me of Woody Allen’s answer when asked:

      “But isn’t sex dirty ?”

      “Only if it’s done right!”

      Now I’m not religious okay.
However if God did create everything,
then he must have created SEX...”

So this thread just took an interesting turn :D
@Jazzer , I believe we should all keep flirting (whatever our age or relationship status) or else we just die inside.

There will be more marketing for the event soon, including here on TT, but you can find some preliminary info here, and tickets are already for sale: https://www.tinnitus.org.uk/Event/talkingtinnitus

Would be nice to see you there!

I should hopefully be free. It would be nice to go and meet a few people from here, get a bit more knowledge of everything that is going on, which is always a good thing.
