I have a natural gas furnace and now that it is so cold the damn thing can go on every few minutes. I hate the fan/blowing type noise, it makes my tinnitus react. Switching the house to electric heaters will cost a fortune, so not sure what options there are but this thing will torture me all winter now.

I get the same thing. Living in a basement suit. Does your T actually react? I always though its just the the frequencies of the furnace fill up all the sonic space except where my T sits.

Get a baseboard electric heater from Walmart. The ones made by "ComfortZone" are completely silent.
I am using 7 of those baseboard heaters, and I haven't noticed that it is more expensive than back when I was using natural gas to heat my home.

in my case that would evolve converting my house to electricity I don't have enough incoming electric power (only 100 amps) to power all those heaters so all the electric breakers need to be changed and more power imported, electrician said it might cost up to 8$ to get all that installed

On second note I did try some portable oil heaters but they did not help much so when I returned them and the clerk opened to check them he dropped the metal wheel holders on the floor which made a loud metallic noise and this was the only time I took of the earmuffs to talk to the clerk so go figure my amazing luck.

I was ok for the two days after that but know I am spiking again not sure if it is related as I was having good days when this happened but I am not sure.

I haven't converted my home. It was built in mid 1990s. In some rooms I can't plug in more than one heater, but you don't really need more than one heater unless the rooms are large. On the first floor of my home, I learned through trial and error which wall sockets can be employed simultaneously to plug heaters into. I have five heaters on the first floor.

I wonder how well a solar heat panel will work. I've tried creating a silent room using a dryer hose to transfer air.

7 space heaters, no smoke detectors... What could possibly go wrong?

Unless your furnace is in your bedroom, I don't see the need for this at all.

I have a natural gas furnace too and I'm getting tired of it. It doesn't make my tinnitus react, but it does sometimes wake me up at night... enough that I sleep with earplugs in sometimes which I hate doing. I've been contemplating getting a quieter gas furnace as this one is pretty old. Something that's two stage and has a variable speed blower may be quieter.

Uncertain, now very somatic, started with noise?
I have the same phenomenon that persistent noises do not cover my tinnitus, but rather accentuate it.
Can your tinnitus also be influenced somatically?
Is the tinnitus one-sided or bilateral?

Don't even need heaters, put a gaming pc in your room...spend all night getting sweaty with destiny 2 PvP and your room will be so hot you will be flinging that window open to get some cold air in your house.

My dog was screaming at me yesterday because it was so hot she had to go lay down In the kitchen and yelled at me to open all the doors.

Hi @Bill Bauer. I have a ComfortZone portable baseboard heater. It’s definitely silent and doesn’t have blowing and rumbling noises. But I do notice that there is a really quiet electric hum and high frequency noise when the heater is on, sort of like the sound of electric current. Do you notice these noises with your baseboard heaters?

This is the one I have.

@Bill Bauer, I need help man. Are you still around? I have really bad pain hyperacusis right now, to the point opening a cabinet makes my ear twinge. Closing the refrigerator sounds like a gun going off. My auditory system is on overdrive like it's stuck in high gear. My body function sounds are also loud. I just got bad maybe a month ago. When will my ears start to heal?

Nobody gives me advice ‍♂️ Maybe I should try Treble Health. I came to this forum hoping to gain some insight and help in my road to ear recovery. Hard times... I should just take 4 Fentanyl pills and it will all be over‍‍.
