      Hey guys.

I did this hearing test (with the little integrated speakers of my laptop that are not very powerful) and I didn't read the alert of not raising the volume once you don't hear it, and I stupidly did exactly that. I did read the alert after it was done.

Didn't feel anything at that moment but when I went to sleep and my T was much louder.

Has anybody experienced something like this?

Did you recover from the spike or was it permanent? Currently suffering, left ear was dead silent now sounds like those annoying low (500hz) beeps from that stupid test. I stopped it but it was too late.

All my spikes come back to baseline.

Now after almost 2 years in, I don't care about them anymore, I feel the same all the time (with higher or lower volume), my habituation level has increased insanely.

I did a similar test, and my T spiked when it was at low volume.

3~4/10, much louder in silence (I guess this happens to everybody).

I also have constant mild pain in my left ear from doing noisy stuff in the fire academy when I became a firefighter. I was wearing the fire balaclava & helmet (european type) and had to hear the instructor clearly so it wasn't really viable to use hearing protection, maybe I could have removed the balaclava and used banded hearing plugs on demand. Now I always carry banded hearing plugs in the fire suit.

Thank you. I needed this support. I can’t even explain how annoyed/angry I was at myself for doing the stupid thing. I think mine is starting to go down too, but I’ll keep you posted.

Jeez. I hope this won’t last that long. I’m brand new to this, 2.5 weeks since onset. It’s been difficult to adjust but the ENTs are all hopeful I should recover. I’m so annoyed about this recent spike because I followed the directions on the test and didn’t even use headphones. Just out of curiosity, do you know why it would cause us to spike? My dogs barked right next to me and nothing happened (small dog), but still! It was much louder than those stupid quiet beeps.

All my spikes were from noise exposures while being sleep deprived.
When I'm well rested the chances of spikes are lower.
