I was hit on the ear by an arm (not too hard) and now that ear is feeling a bit full. No noticeable hearing loss yet, and no pain.

Is it possible for an eardrum to rupture without any symptoms?

Will I know for certain if I ruptured it?

      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Acoustic Trauma
This is a typical symptom of your inner ear being hurt. After my acoustic trauma, I experienced ear fullness for over a month. I still experience it sometimes. My tinnitus began about 11 days after my acoustic trauma. Your eardrum is not ruptured. In order to ensure that you prevent tinnitus, you may want to try to get your ENT to give you oral steroids or steroid injections,

although chances are the doctor won't want to cooperate.

This fullness usually resolves by itself, but some people here report it staying with them for many years.

I believe a tympanogram will show whether you have a perforation of any kind.
But before doing that, you could simply have your ear drum examined by a specialist who will use specific magnifying equipment to check for obvious signs of rupture. If the doc already sees it with his/her naked eye, then you don't even need a tympanogram.

      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Sound Trauma
So I got high frequency Tinnitus from a ruptured eardrum about 4 months ago.
The fullness feeling is gone, but there is still occasional pain and crackling when I yawn. The Tinnitus sounds volume and frequency have been progressively getting quieter with occasional spikes that subside after a few days. I've been taking a bunch of vitamins and eating right and protecting my ears and giving them a break from noise exposure. Today I woke up and I swear the ringing was gone for about 10-15 minutes at sat there in shock as I hadn't experienced silence for months. My eardrum felt weird, almost wet on the inside, I slept on my bad ear all night, which seems to help. The silence was short lived and the ringing slowly faded back in, but it seems much lower today. Are these all good signs? I've read it could take 6 months to a year for this type of tinnitus to clear up if it does, it's at the point now were I can only hear it in a very silent environment, seems to be more noticeable when I'm sitting or laying down, and standing still. Has anyone on here recovered from this type of tinnitus? I'm staying hopefull.

Also I had Hypercausis and some muffled hearing for the first 3 months. The hypercausis is virtually gone, and my hearing seems to be back to normal besides the Tinnitus of course...
