I went to the movies without ear plugs and noticed my T had spiked afterwards. I've been to the movies without them before and thought I'd be fine. The spike is not huge but noticeably different. There was only one point during the previews that my db meter read to 80. The rest averaged 75 or lower to the end of the movie.

Is this just a spike (idk if I have H or not) or could this permanently increase my T? It was a suspense movie and had a decent amount of quiet scenes tbh

What dB meter did you use? That seems low dB for the movies. On my iphone 7+ I tested dB apps and would get different readings. For example one dB app as I recall would say that a vacuum is 90dB and the other one said 60dB in the same position.

LifeProTip:

To calibrate you phone app Google your vacuum cleaner to find out how loud it is.

Then use your vacuum cleaner as a reference.

You would know... And you would not go to the movies without plugs.

Well said @Foncky

Only problem is, vacuum cleaners vary in loudness based upon how deep the shag is in the carpet.:)

I assume the number on the website is "made to look good" so it's the lowest this possible value - with the shag not touching anything. With that assumption, worst case scenario is that the app calibrated using 'my'method will overestimate the volume slightly, which in our situation is not harmful.
