The Frequency Is Painful

I'm new to this forum. But I've read many web pages on tinnitus. I've had this going on a year now. And the volume is not very loud and can be masked easily by other noises most of the time. The trouble is the frequency is so high-pitched that it actually causes me discomfort. Sort of like somebody's fingernails on a chalkboard. I think if the frequency was just a bit higher it would be beyond the scope of human hearing. I could tolerate this issue much easier if the frequency were just a bit lower. I was just wondering if anyone else had discomfort like that.

Yes I do...I feel it as pain in my ear. It's like a squeaking or squealing noise for me. Very unsettling and it actually hurts.
