Tinnitus After Someone Shouted in My Ear — Can I Check My Hearing Myself?

      Tinnitus Since:
      2018
      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Unknown maybe shout in ear
      Hey people. 4 months ago someone shouted in my ear. I think I got tinnitus by that, it makes me angry that people are so stupid to shout in someone's ear.

      I gave him a good beating.

      But I will go to the ENT soon. Is there any way I can check my hearing myself, or no?

      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Acoustic trauma.
      It's best to go to an ENT for the best results, specifically one with a sound proof room or booth. Try and get tested above 8khz, and have a speech in noise test if they do not offer higher frequency testing.

      Unknown
      Although I've never done it, many people recommend prednisone around the time of the trauma. Might be worth looking into.

      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Noise induced / Concert
      It is not recommended, you need medical attention, you could further damage your ears if you choose to self experiment

      Alright, I'm going to an ENT in a week, that’s the earliest possible appointment I could get. Thanks for the help!
