Tinnitus After Tympanoplasty

Hello.

Firstly, sorry for my poor english.

I'm from Turkey, 34 years old.

I had a tympanoplasty type iii (modified radical mastoidectomy) operation 3 months ago for cholesteatoma and woke up with tinnitus on just operated left ear ..

I hadn't tinnitus before the operation.

Doctor is said its not a very common but sometimes common specially for you.

I'm so sad and I don't know is it the operation's failure or not.

If there is who have similar things I am happy to hear something.

Welcome to the forum @Fatih. Your cause of tinnitus is quite specific to you. Don't know if there are members who read the Introduction have similar operation as you did. If there is no response, you can try post again at the main support forum where a much larger membership will be able to see your post. You can also click the 'Forums' tag at the top left and then search with tympanoplasty or cholesteatoma and you will see many prior discussions. In the mean time, what have you done to manage your tinnitus, such as masking or taking medicines?

 

Jut used Sefal Fort, i think it like work. Maybe it was placebo effect on me i dont know.

 

I had this surgery last February, I had t before the surgery though. I was hoping it would take mine away cause I was told I had conductive hearing loss. And I would regain my hearing back to just a 30db loss. It did not work. I feel your pain man.
