Hello Tinnitus sufferers, past and present!
Had my first ENT today exactly one month since the ringing, vertigo and hearing loss occurred. Prescribed methlyprednisolone pack and acyclovir. Was told that if no improvements after 10 days to schedule MRI to rule out tumor. After that, steroid injections directly into the ear. The middle ear is the affected after the results of the hearing test today.
Family and friends have been supportive. I had one friend buy me a 60 day trial audio brain train therapy especially made for tinnitus patients to train the part of the brain that affects the hearing into getting distracted. (Used with headphones). At this point I'll try it and give feedback. If anyone here has used this approach, please reply.

Yes, this sounds like Menieres, have you had that ruled out? I had Menieres and had the exact same symptoms. It was frightening.

Please let us know how you are doing.

      Idiopathic hearing loss
Sounds like SSHL , if the symptoms of hearing loss occurred fast.
Usually Ménière's disease has intermittent hearing loss
You are doing the right thing with steroids
MRI is indicated for unilateral hearing loss
      You will likely improve !
