      Hey Guys,
i have a doubt maybe one of you can help...
have had this ringing since 3 months ago.
and ive been able to cope so far.
one day i woke up with a feeling of blocked left ear and ringing... and thats how it started

even that i havent get an audiogram.
i know i have exposed my ears to a lot of music, concerts etc during my whole life.
so i assume its noise induced, acustic trauma..?

but why only in one ear? i mean i have exposed both ears to loud music, concerts, ipod etc...
      and an other question.
when i cover my ears sometimes i can hear it on my right ear too.
but im guessing the noise might be in my head. so when i cover, the right ear (good one) still gets to hear it a little bit...

I have it in both ears but the right ear is more affected. But sometimes the left ear chimes in louder than others. Don't know why one more than the other, but our bodies don't behave perfectly symmetrically, so ??? Hope that is a little helpful. Have you been to an ENT at all?

I dunno, bro. I ask myself the same question. I wore headphones for thousands of hours during my video game addiction phase and I walked away with predominantly left-sided T, fullness, and pressure; even though I should have the same sound in both ears because of equal noise exposure. I have T in my right ear too, but it's much milder and less tonal.

If you read the BTA's "Tinnitus Explained" article (http://www.tinnitus.org.uk/tinnitus-explained-1) you will see they mention that "Bilateral tinnitus is the most common presentation, followed by left-sided tinnitus. The latter is not accounted for by greater noise exposure."

Left-sided T is not an indicator of how much damage your left ear retained from the noise, the human brain seems to just shove the tinnitus into the left ear regardless of how much damage there actually is. Weird... Are you guys right-handed by any chance?

left ear tinnitus is mostly not related to noise exposure?

No they just say tinnitus happens more often in the left ear than the right no matter what caused it

      Its actually pretty interesting.
      a few years ago (2013)
one night after a gig i got tinnitus in my right ear ( i stupidly stood for 1 hour next to a big speaker for the whole show)
i also had that same experience after a festival, loud ringing in both ears. i remember this was the first night that really bother me, i cant believe i never asked someone else if it was normal lol
