Someone said tinnitus can be mapped and seen now. I'm not familiar with this at all. But it's interesting.

No problem, I didn't know anything about this or if it was even true.

Once one knows the relevant keywords, finding the actual papers is easy.

      Yes, it can be done.
I wonder what the process is to take into account the result of these tests to approve disability claims.
According to a tinnitus doc I asked, the current argument is "you could be faking", so no disability pay for you.

I haven't done much looking into this yet, I just saw it and posted it hoping someone would have some knowledge on this. This really got me intrigued. If this is true, if they can "map" "see" tinnitus now, then there has got to be something that can be done for a treatment. Wouldn't somebody think?

Just because you can locate a problem in 3D "space", doesn't mean you can fix it.

My best guess is: when the tinnitus mystery is finally cracked (and I believe it will be, I just have no idea when), it will first involve breaking down the various types of T into sub-groups and then the treatment will target the specific underlying cause.

I think that although we all experience T, that at the level of the brain, "stress" T is different than hearing loss T, is different than hormonal T, etc, etc.

I wish they could use radiotherapy, the way they use it for brain cancer, and destroy the tissue containing the neurons that are doing this to us.

Unfortunately, what limited data we DO we have points to T being pretty spread out, cortically speaking. So who knows what else you would be destroying, possibly "you"...
