      Hi,

I have been having tinnitus off and on for about 3 months now. But last time after it was triggered during a massage where I had an episode of light headedness, nausea, and ringing all in combination.

The ringing hasn't left me at all. It's been 3 weeks since that happened. I have had ringing constantly since then i.e 24 hours a day. It's driving me crazy.

The only thing that helps me is listening to people speaking or being out in a crowded place. I have no other hearing problems.

The ENT Specialist and my PCP do not take my problem seriously at all. I am a 23 year old with no problem in my hearing and ears whatsoever, according to my doctors. So, they always treat me like I am a hypochondriac who shouldn't be worried about anything.

The problem is I have always been sensitive to noises i.e people speaking loudly or loud music have always bothered me. Hence, the tinnitus now seems like a really big deal to me and is honestly very frustrating. I can't concentrate on anything. It is sucking the energy out of me. I am always fatigued.

Has anyone ever experienced something like this before? Please help me suppress or cure this noise. Any tips would be appreciated.

      Thanks,
      Pranathi

      I am the same way.

Now I am actually not as bothered by the sounds like the sounds of kids playing outside...

I used to hate noise, i could only sleep with my ears plugged. And since having T. i'm able to sleep without plugs and enjoy noise (just not the noises in my ears)

Maybe your T is related to muscles or a trapped nerve, since it was triggered during a massage Do you have any issues with your jaw or your neck?

So far no one could find the cause for me. I am stuck with this crickets in my head. Actually, I do have a hard time with my neck every day. I wake up with a sore neck and shoulder pain. I mentioned this to my PCP too, I am surprised by how little they care.

I know as soon as you tell them about ringing in the ears they will show you the door. "Sorry, there is nothing we can do, just learn to live with it". Most doctors or ENT's don't even know that there are other causes of getting T. besides noise damage.

When there is a problem with the neck, it can cause problems for the nerves and muscles situated by the ears.

      Hi,

I'm new to this as well and still figuring it out. I've had high-pitched ringing in my ears for about three weeks. It is 24/7.

I'm still working my way through the medical system to see if the cause can be identified. (It can take a while to get in with an ENT...) In the meantime, I have been experimenting with different sounds and have found that some suppress or eliminate the tinnitus. So, I am getting through the day and night by always having some masking sound.

Peruse this thread and see if you can find any sounds that help. There are also lots of free sounds up on YouTube. That's what I started with briefly before switching to a phone app that allows me to mix and customize the sounds.

Hopefully, you can find something that works for you and get some relief while you figure out what's going on. It's given me a big relief and time to think things through when I know that I can just take a break from the noise.

      Welcome to the forum :)

All of us have been in your shoes before and still are in your shoes. Tinnitus is a horrible thing and many do not have empathy for those that suffer with it. Your tinnitus is very new, it will take some time to adjust to it and manage it. It is hard to deal with, but as time passes, you will gain more strength and it can become more manageable.

Remaining calm is key when it comes to tinnitus. Stress, anger just trigger it more and it is horrible. We are here to support you. Remember YOU are not alone and we will never judge you and not take your concerns seriously, we are all in the same boat...

      Be well.....

It's funny you should say that. My tinnitus, at times, can be compared to the sound Cicada make:

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cicada

I can never tell if it's really them or just my tinnitus. I told someone that's what it sounded like years ago and they looked at me like I was crazy, so it's something I usually keep to myself. :)

Did you fly somewhere recently ? Sometimes, that can worsen things, at least in my experience. The change in altitude does worsen it significantly. It's normal to feel that your PCP is least interested in this, but that's how it is. We're all here for you.
