      Hey guys,

I'm going on almost 7 years with intrusive tinnitus after attending an indoor gun range with improperly fitted hearing protection. My left ear was left with mild hearing loss and moderate to severe tinnitus and my right ear was only left with some (about 15 dB loss in the 4 kHz-6 kHz range) hearing loss and mild tinnitus that I would only hear in a quiet setting.

My right ear would have scattered nights where the high pitch ringing would stay all night and then fade from one day to the next. As of about two weeks ago the ringing has stayed and is unmaskable. I can't sleep and even when I manage to doze off I wake up shortly after and the ringing seems so loud.

During the day I manage. It doesn't seem to be as loud but lying down triggers the high-pitch ringing in my right ear.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get adequate sleep? I currently take mag and melatonin before laying down. I have white noise playing as well. I'm scared for my loved ones if this doesn't get better. Thanks for the help.

Not knowing if you take any meds that might impact your tinnitus - have you tried sleeping on a sound pillow?

I do not and have not taken any meds, besides supplements, in over a year so probably not the culprit.

I haven't tried the sound pillow. Do you find it helpful?

Yes. I got mine in August along with a chargable speakEr with a microSD with different masking sounds. But a free app or video from YouTube will also work with the pillow.

I find it easier than headphones or ear plugs, and whilst it doesn’t make the tinnitus disappear, it makes a good job masking it so I can sleep much better!

I'm several years into having intrusive tinnitus and have had similar experiences. Just a few weeks ago I became convinced that my tinnitus had taken a sudden turn for the worse. Turned out to be a prolonged, but thankfully, temporary spike. I say this to give you hope that it may be a temporary spike for you as well.

That's what I'm really hoping for @Michael B. I bought some Zinc, B-complex, and ginko to see if that helps. Glad yours resolved.

Yes, SoundPillow helps a lot with my sleep. I think my tinnitus reacts/rises above a sound machine like Lectrofan, but it does not with a SoundPillow.

I was under the impression that the SoundPillow would not help much. You don't feel as though your tinnitus worsens due to continuous white noise every night?
