Hey, I workout out often and I noticed that weights banging in the gym hurts my ears and that one of my tinnitus tones react with the sounds I hear.

I'm not sure what to do. I saw stuff like wearing earplugs in the gym can be bad due to occlusion effect.

Anyone know what I can do?

I'm also studying to become a personal trainer and will need to train people and communicate in gyms. What can I do?

This question comes up a bunch, and I think the general consensus is that earplugs are fine. You can get the heavy duty foam ones if you drop the bar when deadlifting or whatever and maybe consider a pair of filtered custom ear plugs if you need to hear other people.

Hey, thank you for the reply.

I have party plugs that have a filter so I can hear people talking but it reduces loud noises. The thing that is bothering me is the occlusion part that I've been seeing people talk about.
