Cause of Tinnitus
Antidepressants / Loud Sound Exposure
Hey all,

I am almost sure that Zoloft triggered my tinnitus. Now I wonder... is there anything I can try to make it fade away besides withdrawing from antidepressants and waiting crossing my fingers?

Any supplement worth a shot when the cause is an antidepressant?

Is this Neuromod device that is coming supposed to treat this kind of tinnitus too?

There's no evidence that ototoxic medicine induced tinnitus is different from sound induced tinnitus. That's both good and bad. The good part is yeah, you'd be eligible for neuromodulation.

Interesting... that makes me feel less alone and less separated from a possible cure. Do you have sources or a article in mind when you mention that there is no evidence for this comparison?

Oh, neat, may this neuromod stuff reduce this annoying sound of all of our heads.

I can share this study I found long ago about a man that got tinnitus from sertraline (generic word for Zoloft). The man ended up being helped by mirtazapine (generic word for Remeron). I don't know if you should try it or not and medications usually come with side effects.

Remeron is known for causing weight gain due to increased appetite and also for sedation at low doses due to the anti-histamine properties yet this drug also can be energizing at higher doses. Also, withdrawal from anti-depressants can suck.

I have no idea if it would work for your situation but I just wanted to show it to you at least as a sign of hope that sertraline induced tinnitus can go away for some people.
