Tinnitus and hyperacusis patients have much in common with the deaf and hard of hearing. So it makes sense to network with one another when it comes to research, rehabilitation, and therapy, even if some of the treatments might be considered outliers.
I recently came across a photo of research being conducted on stroke patients, and the similarity between the headgear used on those patients and the equipment used by the Bionics Institute of Australia to demonstrate the presence and volume of tinnitus was striking.
Here are two links for your reference. Perhaps tinnitus research could collaborate with stroke research efforts and pool data to their mutual benefit:
DCU researchers work on wearable sensors for stroke patients
AI that can diagnose tinnitus from brain scans may improve treatment
Well, they say great minds think alike.
I can easily imagine the development of a standard head cap, or even a custom-made version for each patient, to simplify the process of connecting all the wires and sensors in order to gather accurate data.
